Above the Storms is the raw, unfiltered, and profoundly inspiring story of Mike Barkley. He traces his path as a young boy from the rough streets of Southwest Atlanta, Georgia, to the man he becomes. Raised in poverty by a fiercely determined single mother, Mike knew the odds were stacked against him. He watched the cycle of struggle repeat in his community, but deep in his heart, he knew he was meant for more.

Mike found his escape on the basketball court. It was his lifeline to a future beyond the hardships of the hood. He dreamed of playing in the NBA, believing that if he could make it there, he could change everything. After serving four years in the United States Coast Guard, Mike entered the corporate world, where, once again, he had to prove himself. With hard work, resilience, and an unshakable belief in his potential, he climbed the ranks, defying every expectation. Through countless battles, failures, and lessons, he never stopped pushing, striving, and rising. His story shows that no storm is too fierce, no obstacle too high, and no dream too impossible when you fight for the life you deserve. Mike Barkley is living proof that where you come from does not determine where you are going. As a visionary leader, transformational strategist, international speaker, and life coach, he has dedicated his life to helping others break free from limitations and step into their greatness. He is a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Voorhees College and an MBA from Benedictine College. Mike is pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration and Strategic Leadership from Liberty University.
